Continuum, A Journey Through Jazz - "New Jazz, Straight Ahead"
(Published: September 14, 2010)

Soulandjazz.com Presents:
Continuum - A Journey Through Jazz
Episode #22 - "New Jazz, Straight Ahead"

Hosted and Produced by J. Scott Fugate, "The Jazz Evangelist"

As always, the show is absolutely free, completely legal, fun for the whole family, and available to listen to anytime, anywhere, ad infinitum, right here: http://bit.ly/bOOlwU

As the title of this episode suggests - everything you'll be hearing is brand new . . . yet also classic, in the sense that it's all "Straight Ahead" Jazz! If you like this kind of thing, you're in for a treat. However, if you think straight ahead Jazz is a little old fashioned for your taste, I think you might be surprised.

We open with some smoldering sax from Ernie Watts and some gospel flavored blues piano from the Dave Bass Quartet, followed by something acoustically funky from the Britton Brothers Band and some 'smooth' straight ahead Jazz by Chris Massey's `Nue Jazz Project.

We also hear the brilliant piano stylings of Cuba's Chucho Valdés, and something brand new from bassist Chris Colangelo as well as the legendary saxophonist James Moody. Both Esperanza Spalding and Danilo Perez have new & unique CD's out, and you'll hear a selection from each. Last but not least, there's Italy's Gerardo Frisina with a wicked track from his new set, "Join The Dance"

I would love to know what you think and feel about this new music - as well as your suggestions for other artist and tracks of which I may be completely unaware. Just drop a line to Scott@Soulandjazz.com. I would also love to connect with you on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn - all you have to do is search for "The Jazz Evangelist".
