Tufts Small Jazz Concerts

The Tufts University Department of Music presents the Tufts Small Jazz Ensembles in a series of three concerts from November 14-21, 2010 at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center.

On November 14, 2010 at 7 p.m., under the direction of Joel LaRue Smith and Nando Michelin, the first two ensembles perform in a concert entitled "Bring in Da Funk!". These ensembles are committed to performing the wonderful music of the masters of rhythm, and this concert features music of Art Blakey, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus; Earth, Wind and Fire; and James Brown.

On November 18, 2010 at 8 p.m., the second two ensembles perform under the direction of Scott Aruda and Paul Ahlstrand. Program to be announced.

On November 21, 2010 at 7 p.m., the final two ensembles round out the week of concerts, under the direction of Nando Michelin and Tufts student John Mason. Michelin's ensemble will feature works by Benny Golson, Hermeto Pascoal, Don Redman and Andy Razaf, and K. Garrett.

Each performance will take place in the Fisher Performance Room of the Granoff Music Center at Tufts University, located at 20 Talbot Avenue on Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus.
