31st Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival

February 17 - 19, 2011. The performers' roster of the North Carolina Jazz Festival over the years reads like a Who's Who in Traditional and Classic Jazz. The 2011 festival's opening night will be a special event featuring "Styles of Jazz." The first set will be the talented UNCW Jazz Combo, followed by big band vocalist Lynn Roberts with the Bob Alberti quartet (Joe Ascione, Wycliffe Gordon, Nicki Parrott). Also featured this evening will be the ever popular Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar and violin prodigy Jonathan Russell, along with Ed Polcer on cornet.
Friday and Saturday nights Bria Skonberg, Kevin Dorn, Rossano Sportiello, Herman Burney, Adrian Cunningham, and the Midiri brothers will add to this all-star lineup. The music these evenings will be presented in seven sets, each with a different leader. All performances take place in the Hilton Ballroom in a cabaret setting and begin at 7:30 each night. Ticket prices for Thurs. night (3 hr. concert) are $35 general admission, $25 military, and $15 students. Friday and Saturday tickets will be $50 general admission, $25 military, and $15 students (4 hrs.).
Patron tickets are $175 and include Fri. & Sat. evening concerts plus a special patron jazz brunch at 10:30 Sat. morning. Patrons receive preferred, reserved seating plus their names in the program.
