American Jazz Museum Creates Take Five Tours
(Published: January 04, 2011)
The American Jazz Museum is embarking on an effort to build individual supporters of its programs.
The museum is creating a series of free events called "Take Five Tours" that will provide potential supporters with an opportunity to learn more about the mission, facility and future direction of the operation.
Each tour is 60 minutes long. The tours start promptly at 6 p.m.
Gregg Carroll, executive director of the American Jazz Museum, said only a small base of individual supporters for the museum exists.
"We wanted to bring people into the mix by connecting them with the direction of the museum and giving them a great facility tour so they can see all the opportunities that exist," Carroll said. "Then we want to use that as a springboard into cultivating individual partnerships."
Museum operations and nonprofits rely on individuals for a base of support.
"We felt we needed to reach out to members individually and tell them what our mission is," Carroll said. "...We're looking for ambassadors who will spread the word."
Upcoming "Take Five" tours will be this Thursday, Jan. 18, Feb. 3, Feb. 15, March 3 and March 15. To RSVP, call 816-474-VINE (8463), ext. 238.
