Detroit Jazz Fest looking for looking musicians to perform Labor Day Weekend
Detroit International Jazz Festival (DJF) is now accepting submissions from Detroit-area musicians, within 150 mile radius of Detroit, for performance slots at the 32nd annual Detroit International Jazz Festival, Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-5, 2011.
Submissions in Jazz, Blues, Latin, Funk, Gospel, R&B, World and Avant-garde will be accepted exclusively through Sonicbids.com, a website that allows organizations and artists to create profiles and accept and submit submissions for performances. This process aligns with the festival's greening initiatives, supported by DTE Energy Foundation, by substantially reducing hundreds of paper press kits. All electronic press kits must be submitted by Friday, February 25, 2011. Selected artists will be announced in June.
"DJF showcases Detroit-based artists throughout the year as well as festival weekend for our massive global audience," said Terri Pontremoli, festival director, DJF. "Highlighting Detroit's great pool of talent is important to our mission, but the competition for performance slots is fierce."
DJF staff members, Terri Koggenhop and John Roberts, will host an informational session at The Detroit Federation of Musicians Local 5 in Southfield, Mich. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at 7 p.m. This session will provide a detailed explanation of the electronic submission process.
