Tenafly, N.J., April 13, 2011-The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, named a 2011 Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, is pleased to announce its spring/summer jazz events. All events will be led by jazz director Vinnie Sperrazza and take place at the music school, located within the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades (411 East Clinton Avenue).

Jazz Wednesdays
April 27, May 18 and June 15, 7:30 p.m.
These monthly performances feature the Thurnauer School of Music's student jazz combos. All ensembles are taught/coached by the school's acclaimed jazz faculty (Vinnie Sperrazza, director and percussion; Matt Blostein, saxophone; Geoff Kraly, bass; and Jacob Sacks, piano).

Jazz Jam Session
May 18, 6 p.m.
As part of its Spring 2011 Open House Week (May 15-22), the Thurnauer School of Music will host a jazz jam session, where prospective students can play; improvise with and meet the jazz faculty; and register for lessons and classes in the 2011-2012 academic year.

JCC Jazz Camp
August 1-12
Beginner to advanced students, aged 12 to 18, study jazz in a friendly, encouraging environment with professional New York City jazz musicians. The camp runs in two week-long sessions: August 1-5 and 8-12. Daily activities include jazz combo rehearsals; performance forums; listening labs; and much more. Students, selected by audition, may attend one or both sessions.

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, New Jersey's leading community music school, has been designated a "Major Arts Institution" by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Open to everyone with a desire to learn about music, it offers a comprehensive program of private lessons for students of all ages on every instrument and voice, plus musicianship classes and orchestral, choral, jazz, and chamber ensembles.
