2nd Annual Coca-Cola Generations In Jazz Festival
(Published: August 15, 2011)

Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola September 2011 Lineup

2nd Annual Coca-Cola Generations In Jazz Festival

The Second Annual Coca-Cola Generations In Jazz Festival from September 5-October 3, 2011, features a full array of jazz performers from 18-93 years of age, a multi-generational exploration of the full spectrum of jazz tradition from Louis Armstrong and Coleman Hawkins to Bud Powell and Max Roach to Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Celebrating the great legends of jazz while seeking to create new ones, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola provides a happy home for musicians and listeners of all ages and backgrounds -- all speaking a common language of swing.

One of the many special highlights of this year's festival will be the 93-year-old jazz master composer and conductor Gerald Wilson celebrating the New York premiere of his Legacy Suite, Sept 27-Oct 2, with The Juilliard Jazz Orchestra and his son, guitarist Anthony Wilson, and his grandson, keyboardist Eric Otis. Also, young jazz piano titans Jonathan Batiste and Aaron Diehl will headline a dynamic double bill from September 20-25.

"Jazz and Coca-Cola come together at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola to encourage people to live positively through a shared passion of music," said Sharon Byers, VP of Marketing Assets for Coca-Cola. "Whether it's the sounds of swing or the fizz of an ice cold Coke, music is the backdrop at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola where friends can enjoy live performances, fine dining and celebrate the sounds of happiness all year long."
