NICKELBACK, LAVIGNE, Dr. JOHN, BLANCHARD, AND BLUESMEN ROCK HOLLYWOOD
AS 2007 ASYM HONOREE COME OUT FOR STAR STUDDED BENEFIT CONCERT

West Hollywood… On Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the world famous, Celebrity Centre in Hollywood, the American Society of Young Musicians (ASYM) will give again hold its highly anticipated kudos-fest giving musical honors to talented artists in the music community for having inspired young musicians with their fresh sound and for paving the way for the next generation of up-and-coming artist to follow. As a major scholarship organization for talented artists with over 1200 voting members internationally and various chapters around the country, each year the ASYM membership look at artists in a variety of musical genres. Awards are then presented to artists that have inspired them, and subsequent voting ballots determine, just who will be the top picks of young musicians in that particular year.

Among this years star-studded line-up includes award recipients; the “2007 Most Awesome Band Award” going to Nickelback, whose recent headlining U.S. kick-off, has been playing to sold-out audiences nationwide. They will be joined by hot alternative band Evanescence receiving ASYM’s Favorite Alternative Band honors, singing sensation Christina Milian receiving the “2007 Female Pop Artist of the Year Award,” renowned gospel singing sensation Andraé Crouch receiving favorite Gospel Artist Award, hot multi-platinum hip-hop artist Young Jeezy will be there to receive Favorite Hip-Hop Artist honors, Terrence Blanchard receiving the “All That Jazz Award, gifted Rock Artist Avril Lavigne receiving Favorite Female Rock Vocalist Award, Musicians Advocate music impresario Seymour Stein receiving Musicians Advocate Award. Top honors will go to “Trailblazer Award” recipient, colorful New Orleans rock/blues and soul icon Dr. John known as much for his influence on rock artists and the modern New Orleans cultural music scene that he helped take worldwide.

With this year’s roster filled with top name talents in music today, the evening promise to be as spontaneous and exciting as previous years where such raucous musical pairings as Chaka Khan, The Goo Goo Dolls and Meredith Brooks getting funky with bluesman B.B. King, Lisa Marie Presley and guitarist Dave Navarro have in the past brought the house down.

The American Society of Young Musicians (ASYM) is a national non-profit organization comprised of musicians, songwriters, vocalists and studio technicians between the ages of 13 and well into their 30’s, who share a common commitment to the development and mentorship of young talent in the music business. ASYM provides lecture series, artists workshops and forums, a shared housing referral program, financial assistance, and a mentorship program that includes a support network of fellow artists encompassing alcohol and substance abuse counseling.

In its 15th year of house rockin’ and foot stompin’ accolades and musical tributes, the society’s concerts have become an annual staple of spring for young Hollywood and along the Sunset Strip, where beautiful groupies and talented rockers converge on the warm June nights of the strip, for an evening of star-studded arrivals and jam-packed music that in the past has seen impromptu jam sessions on stage among the likes of Little Richard, Keith Richards, Rachel Hunter, Ronald Isley, Linda Hopkins, and Al Jarreau, among others, joining in musical renditions of some of Rocks classic numbers. Past award recipients include John Mellencamp, Quincy Jones, The Foo Fighters, Diane Warren, Herbie Hancock, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy & Meredith Brooks among others.

With Proceeds benefiting the American Society of Young Musicians and showcasing some of music’s hot, young talent, the night promises to live up to its past expectations and then some. Hot rock bands and some of R&B’s favorites will be among the performers bringing in the evening. Contact (310) 358-8301.
