Von Freeman has been chosen as one of the living legends who have made
exceptional contributions to the advancement of jazz, and is a recipient of the
2012 NEA Jazz Master Award.
Von quote: "I consider the music I play/create as "hard core modern jazz."

Joanie Pallatto: Described by Rick Kogan of the Chicago Tribune as
having "a stirring and special voice," Joanie Pallatto is a graduate of The
University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Pallatto toured with The
Glenn Miller Orchestra as a featured vocalist; is now co-owner and partner with
pianist/composer and husband, Bradley Parker-Sparrow at Sparrow Sound Design
Recording Studio and SOUTHPORT & NORTHPORT Records. As a solo singer, group
singer and voiceover talent, she has recorded on hundreds of radio and
television commercials nationally.

Bradley Parker Sparrow: Sparrow was Composer-In-Residence for the City Of
Chicago in 1977 and 1988, and has taught jazz for the NEA, jazz in schools
program and orchestration at Columbia College in Chicago. The music of Sparrow
reflects all forms of music, from Bartok to Jackie Gleason. He recently scored
3 feature length films and screened the world premiere of his new documentary
short film, "The Last Cabrini" with narration by The Chicago Tribune and WGN's
Rick Kogan.

Sheila Jordan: Sheila Jordan is among the last great living jazz singers,
extending the legacy of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Jordan's own
contemporary, Betty Carter. Jordan is one of only a tiny handful of jazz singers
who fully deserve the appellation and for whom no other term will do.

Jeff Newell: Saxophonist Jeff Newell's distinctive sound, original
compositions, creative arrangements and wry sense of humor have earned the
praise of jazz critics and audiences alike in the US and abroad.

Martha Lorin: Martha Lorin has appeared cross country at many
venues including: Weill Hall/Carnegie Hall, The Gardenia, Metropolitan Room,
Catch 35, 88's, Milford Theater, Apollo Theater and Bailiwick Theater

Bill Nolte: Bill received Broadway's GYPSY ROBE in 1993 for Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and in 2000 for Jane Eyre. Other credits
include: La Cage aux Folles, The Producers, Amour and Jane Eyre.

Charles West: Charles is currently standby for El Gallo in the NYC production
of "The Fantasticks". Other credits include: "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and "Cyrano,
the Musical" and as "Chris" in the 1st National Tour of Miss Saigon.

Laury Shelley: Laury has appeared at venues cross country receiving rave reviews
from the public and critics both. Performances at: Carnegie Hall, Cinegrill, St.
Regis Hotel, Catch 35, Twelve West and Maxim's.

Bill Pernice: Bill has worked as a professional pianist for many years, playing
with gifted artists such as Jon Hendriks and Willie Nelson and Martha Lorin.

Southport Records thanks Von Freeman for his musical contributions to the label.
