KEITH JARRETT - SOLO PIANO
An Evening of Piano Improvisations
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 - 8:00 PM
CARNEGIE HALL
Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage
Keith Jarrett returns to New York's Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 8:00 PM to perform one his rare solo piano concerts. The concert will feature an entire evening of solo piano improvisations.
This will be his only solo concert worldwide in winter 2012. Jarrett, however, will be playing three more solo concerts in spring 2012:
Los Angeles, CA - March 27 at Disney Hall
Berkeley, CA - April 1 at Zellerbach Hall UC Berkeley
Chicago, IL - April 4 at Orchestra Hall
These concerts follow the recent release of RIO (ECM Records), a new 2-CD set of solo piano improvisations recorded this past April 2011 at the Theatro Municipal - Rio de Janeiro's historic 100+ year old grand opera house. This recording has already been hailed as "a masterpiece" (Jazzwise) by critics worldwide and is considered by Jarrett to be his best solo piano recording since his legendary Koln Concert.
Keith Jarrett has come to be recognized worldwide as one of the most creative and uncompromising musicians of our times - universally acclaimed as an improviser of unsurpassed genius. Over the past five decades, his landmark improvised solo piano concerts and recordings have incorporated a broad spectrum of musical languages evoking a dynamic creative process producing spontaneous music that is both deeply personal, yet universal.
Keith Jarrett's improvisations on his best selling ECM Records solo piano recordings such as Facing You, Solo Concerts, Koln Concert, Sun Bear Concerts, Paris Concert, Vienna Concert, La Scala, Radiance, The Carnegie Hall Concert and Testament - Paris/London have helped redefine the role of the piano in contemporary music.
This singular body of solo piano work is without precedent with Koln Concert being the best selling solo piano recording in history.
