Q-Tip leads summit on jazz and hip-hop
Esteemed rapper Q-Tip will visit Hampton this weekend to participate in a seminar exploring intersections between jazz and hip-hop music.
Hosted by Hampton University's WHOV-FM (88.1), the second annual "Jazz in the Hip-hop Generation" summit will take place 2 p.m. Saturday at Ogden Hall on the Hampton campus. Other panelists include producer Easy Mo Bee and jazz musicians Lenny White and Jeff Lorber.
Besides exploring contemporary topics, the seminar will honor the memory of Weldon Irvine Jr., an accomplished musician and Hampton native.
