The great saxophonist/composer was born February 27, 1923, in Los Angeles,California. WCOM-FM's "Sunday Night Jazz" honors him by presenting a birthday radio special, Sunday, February 26, 2012, beginning at 9 pm and lasting until 12 midnight.
