We're very excited that South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela and his band will perform on Friday, July 13 at 8pm as part of the NYC Rockin' the River Cruises (http://www.rtrcruises.com/). The shows will both be CD Release Parties for Hugh's new CD Live at the Market Theatre (Times Square/Four Quarters Ent) which comes out on July 17.

Each NYC RTR Cruise is a scenic tour and live music event in the most intimate and friendly concert setting you've ever experienced. Listening to your favorite artists while sailing past the Statute of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge and the world's greatest NYC skyline - you've never seen music like this before. Seating is first come, first served. The cruise departs from the Circle Line docks at 42nd Street and the Hudson River, Pier 83 - rain or shine

We hope to see you on the water!

South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela has circled the globe and played with everyone from Harry Belafonte, Dizzy Gillepsie, and Louis Armstrong to Paul Simon. He released his first breakthrough record The Americanization of Ooga-Booga directly after the Sharpville Massacre of 1960, when he fled to the US. He went on to record many records including his 1987 hit "Bring Him Back Home", which became the anthem for Nelson Mandela's world tour following his release from prison in 1992. Masekela then took part in the acclaimed Heads Up Africa series, and he is now ready to release his new album, scheduled to hit stores on July 17th.
