New School Jazz and Union Square Partnership Present MK Groove Orchestra

 The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in collaboration with the Union Square Partnership presents the MK Groove Orchestra as a part of the Summer in the Square Series, on July 25 at 6:00pm. Brooklyn's MK Groove Orchestra, led by New School alumnus Mike Kammers and featuring a number of talented New School alumni with rising careers of their own as musicians, arrangers and composers, has crafted an energetic and unique sound that integrates heavy, horn driven, funk with jazz. With inspiration from the likes of Duke Ellington, Sun Ra, Stravinski, Blue Note Rare Groove and Machito, for over five years the MK Groove Orchestra has been satisfying a diverse audience performing choice covers as well as originals that reflect their innovative and well planned approach to their music.
