Michael Walker to kick off A Smoother You citywide tour July 14 (Published: July 12, 2012)
Smooth jazz guitarist Michael Walker and his band the Project are hitting the road this summer, and he wants Dallas/Fort Worth area residents to take notice.
Walker, who released his first solo project, A Smoother You in May, will open his citywide tour July 14 with a free show at the Forum, 300 North Coit Road, in Richardson, Texas. The performance is slated for 8 p.m. to midnight, and Walker will treat the audience with tunes from his latest CD and covers of tunes from his favorite jazz guitarists, Norman Brown and George Benson.
The tour will continue July 28 with a show for the grown folks at Kenny's Café, 19129 Preston Road, in Dallas, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission to the July 28 concert is $10.
"The purpose of the tour is to create a mass group of fans that will enjoy my music," said the Newport, Ark., native.
Visit www.michaelwalkermusic.com for additional tour stops and to purchase the CD. A portion of the proceeds from the CD will benefit Fashions For The Cure (www.fashionsforthecure.org), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded by Dallas-area resident and breast cancer survivor Marsha Johnson.
