Lehman Center Announces 40th Anniversary Latino Concert Series

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts continues its 32-year tradition of bringing world-class entertainment to the Bronx with a special LATINO CONCERT SERIES to begin its 2012-13 Season. The concert series kicks off Saturday, September 15. 2012with Latin jazz piano sensation MICHEL CAMILO, who shares the evening with legendary Salsa band TIPICA '73 in celebration of their 40th Anniversary. Cuban sensations LOS VAN VAN, pioneers of Songo, return to Lehman Center in October after over a decade's absence. Two of Salsa's hottest stars, JERRY RIVERA and TITO NIEVES, make an exclusive NYC appearance at Lehman Center in October. And the highly acclaimed NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA OF CUBA, on a first-ever U.S. tour, performs an exclusive NYC engagement. SALSA PALOOZA returns in November with LA INDIA, TITO ROJAS andFRANKIE NEGRÓN. Lehman Center's holiday tradition of PARRANDA NAVIDEÑA continues in December with FELITO FELIX Y EL TRIO LOS ANTARES, in a tribute to Felipe Rodriguez; ODILIO GONZALEZ "EL JIBARITO DE LARES;" and JOSÉ MIGUEL CLASS "EL GALLITO DE MANATÍ." There will be a special performance in December by the world-renowned "Royal Family" of classical guitar - THE ROMEROS, performing Concerto Málaga. For three decades Lehman Center for the Performing Arts has presented an international array of artists and celebrities at very affordable ticket prices. Eva Bornstein, who begins her eighth season as Executive Director of Lehman Center, says, "Last season, Lehman Center was greatly honored by the Bronx community. Audiences attended our performances in record numbers, and we received tributes and accolades from the local media and community leaders from the borough. In addition, the Center was prominently featured in the New York Times and Daily News and its Latino Series was selected by Sirius XM Radio(NASDAQ: SIRI) for live concert broadcasts. In return, we left audiences with some unforgettable memories. Latin legends and superstars such as Gilberto Santa Rosa and Paquito D'Rivera and international companies such as the St. Petersburg Orchestra, Moscow Ballet, and the National Acrobats of China thrilled concert goers of all ages. This season is even more spectacular than ever, as our favorite stars return and new ones are born! The Bronx deserves the very best, and we will continue to work hard to bring the very best in the performing arts to the borough and beyond."
Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Lehman Center is accessible by #4 or D train to Bedford Park Blvd. and is off the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway. Low-cost on-site parking available for $5.
Special discounts are built into Lehman's concert series. "Create your own Series" offers a 10% discount on a minimum of three shows, or a 20% discount for six or more shows. Plus special $10 tickets for any seat are available for selected shows forchildren 12 and under. Senior discounts also apply. He's been one of the hottest young guns of Salsa romantica since 1992's Cuenta Conmigo took off, and over 18 albums later he returns to Lehman Center to deliver hit after hit of his ten-year career including "Casi un hechizo," "Amores como el nuestro" and "Ese."
