Nika Rejto releases her first CD on August 7th, 2012 since her 2006 Grammy nominated release Teazing Socrates. A native of Los Angeles, but now residing in the Bay Area, Nika Rejto is highly regarded as one of top flute players in the U.S. She was even asked by Hubert Laws to play for his Lifetime Achievement Award. And, "flawless, entertaining, excellent" is what Jazzreview.com has said about Nika's playing!

On Little Wizdoms, Songs from My Heart, Nika's vocals take center stage. With influences as diverse as Joan Baez, Nancy Wilson, Joni Mitchell and Diana Krall, they all shine through in a blend that is uniquely her own!

Nika composed all the music and lyrics for this 10 tune set on Little Wizdoms. As Nika says, "these songs are not from my head, they are from my heart. I'll always write this way, it is just more of who I am".

Writing from her heart may help explain her use of very unique lyrics. On track 1, Hobo, Nika writes "waited for the very last note, then we snuck out and followed the moat, down to the sea where the tracks lie. Then we met a man named Joe, told him all we know, don't know why we didn't go home, perhaps we were meant to roam".

Even more cleverly written and arranged is track 5, Moons of Mars, (seemingly in three movements). Nika sings "I've heard you say many times before, its not worth closing the door maybe we'll even reach the moons of Mars". Perhaps its what Nika shares on track 9, Swallows, "Do you holler when you're lonely? Do you give up your pride"? that best exemplifies her writing touch.

For those who remember Nika Rejto as a supreme flute stylist, you will not be disappointed as she delivers passionate and sensitive solos and accents throughout.

Maybe the most important example of the impact this new CD has is best quoted by a recent admirer, "I bought your new "Little Wizdoms" CD because I listened to clips of the tunes and absolutely loved them! In fact, the songs got stuck in my head all day long. That happens when they are good catchy tunes".

It's not very often that an artist delivers something so special, and with Nika Rejto's Little Wizdoms, Songs from My Heart that time is now!
