90 year old pianist Marty Napoleon releases his first album in decades called, "Swingin' at 90"
(Published: January 14, 2013)

90 year old pianist Marty Napoleon reinvents himself and plays in the electro-swing style of jazz on his first new album in decades called, "Swingin' at 90". Marty Napoleon is best known for playing piano with Louis Armstrong during the 1950s. In addition, Napoleon has played with such jazz legends as Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, and the Big Four featuring Charlie Ventura, Chubby Jackson, and Buddy Rich.

Musician and Producer, Ron DiCesare has opted not to present Napoleon's songs in a traditional jazz fashion as one might expect. The album is done in the jazz sub-genre called electro-swing which fuses swing era style jazz with modern electronic and dance elements. Surprisingly, electro-swing is a perfect match for Marty Napoleon's natural piano style. No other authentic swing era musician still alive today has tried such a bold combination of swing and electronic music.

True, there is no shortage of jazz remixes done with jazz legends. However, few if any albums feature a veteran swing era musician such as Marty Napoleon participating in the all new versions like on "Swingin' at 90." Even with this modern approach, the revamped songs keep the core essence of Napoleon's piano style intact, exactly how he would have sounded during the height of the swing era.

Combining the talent of Marty Napoleon, a genuine swing era veteran, with the exciting new genre of electro-swing is sure to delight listeners who can appreciate that in some ways, everything old is new again.

"Working on a project like this at my age was a new and exciting experience," said Marty Napoleon.  "I have been writing and performing music for over 60 years in the traditional way. After working in a completely new way for me, I am happy to say that this take on my original songs is contemporary and I like it. I think you will, too."

The album is available through iTunes, Amazon, and CD baby.
