(Published: January 14, 2013)

Award winning guitarist and composer Lloyd Gregory brings his soulful, melodic and captivating style to the Bay Area's newest celebrated Jazz venue, The 57th Street Gallery at 5701 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, Saturday January 19th.

A well-established classic jazz guitarist, Gregory effortlessly incorporates genres of African, Reggae, Brazilian, R&B and smooth Jazz into his performances taking listeners on a musical travelogue. Selected by jazz icon Stanley Clarke as one of only four artists to launch his record label, Roxboro Entertainment, Lloyd Gregory is currently celebrating the success of his newest CD, Gentle Warrior, which has been on the jazz indie and radio airplay charts for months. Gentle Warrior rose to #5 on the "SmoothJazz.com Radar Chart," #6 on the "SmoothJazz.com Top 50 Indie Chart" and #23 on the "Smooth Jazz Top 50 Albums Chart." "BDS/Billboard Smooth Jazz National Airplay Chart" ranked Gentle Warrior at #29.

Although Gregory has released five critically acclaimed albums of his own, he has also recorded with Martha Reeves, MC Smooth and Freddie Stewart (Sly & The Family Stone); and has performed onstage with Rodney Franklin, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Gerald Albright, Lenny Williams (Tower of Power), Freda Payne, The Dells, and Lowell Fulsom. He spent years touring extensively while serving as the musical director for The Ballads, Natural Four and Jesse James. As a studio musician in Los Angeles, Gregory worked with legendary producer Richard Perry and played sessions with top musicians such as Klaus Voorman (The Beatles), Arthur Adams (B.B. King, Quincy Jones), Harvey Mason (Herbie Hancock, George Benson) and Joe Sample (The Crusaders).

Saturday January 19th you're invited to accompany Lloyd Gregory and his all star caliber cast of musicians featuring Glen Pearson, piano/keyboard; Janice Maxie Reid, vocals/keyboard/piano; Joe Thomas, bass; Ritchie Aguan, drums and James Henry, percussion for a sonic journey that is both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating at The 57th Street Gallery, 5701 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland 8:30pm - 11pm
