Usdan, With Expanded Jazz Program, Presents Next Open Houses 2/20 and 2/24; Jane Monheit to be Visiting Faculty

Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned summer arts day camp whose Jazz Dept. was created by Dr. Billy Taylor, will present its next, free Open Houses on Wednesday Feb. 20 and Sunday Feb. 24, each from 11 AM to 2 PM. For 2013, the Jazz program is expanded: there are now three separate ensembles, for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

In addition, jazz star Jane Monheit will be a visiting faculty member for 2013. The acclaimed vocalist and Usdan alumna has performed many times at the Center and held workshops there.

The Open Houses are at Usdan's 200-acre woodland campus on Long Island, at 185 Colonial Springs Road in Wheatley Heights (see www.usdan.com for Directions). Students from NYC and throughout the Tri-State area annually attend, transported by air-conditioned buses. No audition is needed for most of the more than 40 programs, only an interest.
