NEA JAZZ MASTER RON CARTER TO JOIN BENNY GOLSON FOR NEW JAZZ MASTERS SERIES LAUNCH IN HARLEM
G&J Productions presents the internationally famous jazz composer and legendary saxophonist Benny Golson for an evening of magical music in a new jazz series at Ginny's Supper Club in Harlem.
As a NEA Jazz Master, Lifetime Achievement Grammy Awardee and a Kennedy Center Living Jazz Legend honoree, Benny Golson's career spans six decades-from his early years with John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and his work with The Jazztet, to his compositional brilliance for M*A*S*H, Mission Impossible, and The Cosby Show theme.
Having recorded over 30 albums and written over 300 compositions, Mr. Golson's body of originals forms a core part of the modern jazz songbook repertoire, such as "I Remember Clifford," "Killer Joe," "Blues March," and "Along Came Betty."
Mr. Golson will be joined by Mike LeDonne, piano; Carl Allen, drums; and special guest, NEA Jazz Master Ron Carter on bass.
Among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz, with more than 2,000 albums to his credit, Ron Carter has recorded with many of music's greats: Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, Dexter Gordon, and Wes Montgomery.
