NEA JAZZ MASTER RON CARTER TO JOIN BENNY GOLSON FOR NEW JAZZ MASTERS SERIES LAUNCH IN HARLEM (Published: February 11, 2013)
G&J Productions presents the internationally beloved jazz composer and legendary saxophonist Benny Golson, and special guest bassist Ron Carter, for three nights of magical swing for a new Jazz Masters series at Ginny's Supper Club in Harlem.
Benny Golson's illustrious career spans six decades-from his early years with John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and his work leading The Jazztet (with trumpeter Art Farmer), to his compositional brilliance for M*A*S*H, Mission Impossible, and The Cosby Show theme.
His body of originals forms a core part of the modern jazz songbook repertoire, with memorable songs as "I Remember Clifford," "Killer Joe," "Blues March," "Stablemates," and "Along Came Betty."
Mr. Golson will be joined by:
Mike LeDonne, piano (former musical director of the Milt Jackson Quartet)
Carl Allen, drums (Artistic Director, Juilliard Jazz)
Ron Carter, bass (NEA Jazz Master)
Among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz, with more than 2,000 albums to his credit, Ron Carter has recorded with many of music's greats: Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, Dexter Gordon, and Wes Montgomery.
