ANNOUNCES SPECTACULAR 2013-14 SEASON

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts proudly announces the lineup for its 2013-14 Season, which continues its 33-year tradition of bringing world-class entertainment to the Bronx. The season will include the return of multi-GRAMMY Award-winning legend EDDIE PALMIERI presenting the World Premiere of Sabiduria! with the great MAMBO LEGENDS ORCHESTRA and master flutist DAVE VALENTÍN. Audiences will be delighted by JOSE ALBERTO "EL CANARIO's" concert "THE SHOWMAN" and will celebrate the Holiday Season Jíbaro Style with PARRANDA NAVIDEÑA featuring LILY Y SU GRAN, ODILIO GONZALEZ and JOSÉ MIGUEL CLASS. Other world class performances include the HAIFA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA conducted by BOGUSLAW DAWIDOW featuring pianist ROMAN RABINOVITZ; the exciting musical theatre genius of the vocal group TEATRO; the virtuosity of PETER NERO's renditions of the George Gershwin songbook; the Latin humor of comedic star PAUL RODRIGUEZ with rising star RUPERTO VANDERPOOL; and the Lehman Center favorites FOREVER FREESTYLE 8 and DOO WOP featuring those eras' most popular groups. For more than three decades Lehman Center for the Performing Arts has presented an international selection of artists and celebrities at very affordable ticket prices. Eva Bornstein, who is beginning her ninth season as Executive Director of Lehman Center, says, "As I look back and recall great performances from legends like Smokey Robinson, Patti LaBelle, Johnny Mathis and Jose Feliciano, there have been many ‘firsts' and unique moments here. Lehman Center's 2013 season offers a full and varied line-up of performances that stay true to bringing the best headliners, dance, music and cultural attractions to the Bronx. From the legendary Eddie Palmieri to the elegant Haifa Symphony Orchestra, our new season has something for everyone."
Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Tickets for all events can be purchased by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718-960-8833 (Monday through Friday, 10am-5pm, and beginning at 12 noon on the day of the concert), or through online access at www.LehmanCenter.org. Lehman Center is accessible by #4 or D train to Bedford Park Blvd. and is off the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway. Low cost on-site parking available for $5.
Special discounts are built into Lehman's concert series. "Create your own Series" offers a 10% discount on a minimum of three shows, or a 20% discount for six or more shows. Plus special $10 tickets for any seat are available for selected shows for children 12 and under. Eddie Palmieri, known for his charismatic power and bold innovative drive, has a musical career that spans over 50 years as a bandleader of Salsa and Latin Jazz orchestras. The NEA Jazz Master has been awarded nine Grammy Awards and his recordings have become classics with such hits as "Azucar," "Muñeca," "Vamonos Pa'l Monte" and "Puerto Rico." Eddie Palemieri's SABIDURIA! (Wisdom) will have its not-to-be missed WORLD PREMIERE at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on September 28th!
The Mambo Legends Orchestra is comprised of former members of the Tito Puente Orchestra. Led by famed bongocero John "Dandy" Rodriquez, sax/flutist Mitch Frohman and musically directed by timbalero and arranger Jose Madera, the band is dedicated to keeping the ‘50s and ‘60s Palladium-era sound alive as it explores new musical concepts.
