AccuJazz Internet Radio Featuring Melissa Aldana and Other Recent Monk Competition Winners
(Published: October 15, 2013)

AccuJazz Internet Radio is now featuring the music of Melissa Aldana along with other recent winners and finalists of the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition on its Emerging Voices channel. The channel has always exclusively played music by the younger generation of musicians, so it is a perfect fit to feature musicians awarded in the contest, which is the jazz world's highest honor for young jazz artists. As with all AccuJazz Internet Radio channels, Emerging Voices is free to listen and available 24/7.

The annual competition, now in its 27th year, focuses on a different instrument each year. This year, judges Jane Ira Bloom, Jimmy Heath, Branford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter and Bobby Watson made history by making saxophonist Melissa Aldana the first-ever female instrumentalist to win the competition. Past winners and finalists include big-name jazz stars like Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Jane Monheit, Jacky Terrasson and Seamus Blake.

AccuJazz's Emerging Voices channel is featuring Aldana's music as well as the music of many other recent winners and finalists. The channel still includes hundreds of great songs by musicians unaffiliated with the Monk contest, but with an extra dose of the Monk musicians. Below is a complete list of all of the featured artists:
