Ghost Train Orchestra Album Release Show at SubCulture!
(Published: October 22, 2013)

As their bio states, The Ghost Train Orchestra performs "unearthed music mined from the dusty vaults of a basement record collection, new arrangements of ‘voodoo music' and spirited stomps from the most incredible of the late 1920s Chicago and Harlem jazz bands." If that doesn't say it, I don't know what else would. Brian Carpenter established a 9-piece ensemble and achieved great success in the music world. In 2011, their debut album Hothouse Stom was listed on several top ten lists, including NPR, NYC Jazz Record and JazzTimes. The Ghost Train Orchestra will perform new modernistic orchestrations for 12-member ensemble and choir from their new CD Book of Rhapsodies, produced by Grammy award winner Danny Blume. The Raymond Scott Orchestrette will open the show, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the debut of the Raymond Scott Quintette.
