(Published: March 04, 2014)

On Saturday, March 15th, New Jersey Ballet teams up with Montclair-based Jazz House Kids for an exciting evening of dance and music built around America's original music form, jazz. Choreographer Earl Mosley takes on music by Wayne Shorter (arranged by Ed Palermo, faculty member of Jazz House Kids) and Count Basie. Choreographer Ray Mercer works with two compositions by bassist and composer Christian McBride. 12-year-old Jazz House Kids student Esteban Castro is featured in James P. Johnson Stride Piano Medley. Music is performed by the award-winning Jazz House Big Band with special guest 11-time GRAMMY winning Cuban legend Paquito D'Rivera. It's all happening under the umbrella of New Jersey Ballet Celebrates the Garden State's 350th birthday. Tickets are $29-59 and are available at mayoarts.org or 973-539-8008.
