Caribbean Band Delivers Spiritual Jazz Melodies to Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers Community
(Published: June 13, 2014)

Emmanuel Baptist Church is proud to feature the internationally recognized Elan Trotman Group at its next Jazz Vespers on Sunday, June 29 from 3-5 pm, in honor of Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

Rhythmic sounds of steel drums and saxophones will pour out onto the streets of the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, New York as award-winning Jazz Saxophonist and Barbados native, Elan Trotman, and his six-man band deliver two hours of melodic grooves from the Caribbean islands. The unique Caribbean Jazz setting, composed by Trotman, features saxophone, steel drum, and a four-piece rhythm section. Founded in 2014 with fellow Berklee College of Music alumni, the band includes Kareem Thompson (Steel Pan), Anthony Steele (Drums), Mark Copeland (Keyboards), Zack Rochester (Bass), and Tyrone Chase (Guitar).

Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers will also participate in another musical celebration earlier in June, with its Leviticus Youth Band performing a number of jazz selections on behalf of Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers, for "Make Music New York", a unique festival of 1,000+ free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City, all on June 21st, the first day of summer. This performance will be hosted by BrownstoneJazz and FAB Alliance, and takes place at Putnam Triangle Plaza, located at 15 Putnam Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

The recurrent theme of the Jazz Vespers is: "Experience the Presence of God Through the Sounds of Jazz." Currently in its third year, the Jazz Vespers series has built a following of jazz lovers around New York City and Brooklyn, and continues to secure well-respected jazz musicians that bring an unmistakable feeling of celebration for God, and the jazz art form. As a former attendee proclaimed, "I enjoy and look forward to Jazz Vespers! It is an amazing, spiritual, and, musical mixture. Praise God for Jazz!"

Emmanuel Baptist Church is located at 279 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. For more information on the Jazz Vespers, go to http://ebcconnects.com/ja... or call (718) 622-1107.
