(Published: June 23, 2014)

Pianist Russ Lossing performs two song cycles based on the poetry of Zen masters Ryokan (18th century) and Dogen (13th century), featuring Kyoko Kitamura on voice and Adam Kolker on bass clarinet.

Wednesday, June 25th
8:30 PM
IBEAM 168 7th Street Brooklyn, NY 11215

Lossing's brief but intense study with John Cage in the early '80s and his more recent 12-year association with Paul Motian continue to inform his music at present. Kyoko Kitamura, known as an intrepid vocal improviser who often works with Anthony Braxton, recently finished recording Braxton's opera Trillium J scheduled for release in 2015.
