Umbria Jazz presents Stefano Bollani & Hamilton de Holanda
(Published: July 31, 2014)

This duo reunites through music, good humor, virtuosity and invention. Both musicians represent the best of their countries: Hamilton de Holanda, 10 strings mandolin player from Brazil, and the italian piano star Stefano Bollani. They have each collaborated with everyone from orchestra to Chick Corea/Wynton Marsalis, from John Paul Jones to Bela Fleck, from Melody Gardot to Raul Midon. O QUE SERA ( ECM), recorded live, is a delightful album that shows their ability to play anything on their instruments with incredible interplay between the two. The music is fresh and represents the proper way to preserve their music as it is cheerful, spontaneous and without prejudice. The alliance between the two artists, composers and instrumentalists has surpassed the football fields and here, embraces the art of music in its freshness just for the joy of it. Bollani loves Brazil and we can say that he is a true BRASILIANO and that he naturally appropriates, without cliches, the Brazilian culture. This inspiration has led him to cross paths with Hamilton, a true representative of the Brazilian music heritage. Together with ears open to the world influences, Bollani and Hamilton bring happiness through their fingers presenting rhythms as Choro, Samba, Baião.... celebrating a country that is reinventing itself with people in the streets and a heart in the hands.

"This remarkable duo's pleasure in their work is infectious." John Fordham, The Guardian

‘O que será' is like watching two hyperkinetic kids in a musical candy store, looking to sample everything they can get their hands on....A breathtaking 54-minute break from life's trials and tribulations;... it's proof positive that serious music can be fun, too."
John Kelman, All About Jazz
