Japanese Taiko Drumming Workshop w/ Bruce "Mui" Ghent
(Published: August 04, 2014)

Taiko (large drum), also known as Kumidaiko, is a dynamic, neo-traditional art form based on traditional Japanese drumming used in centuries old festivals and classical Japanese theater, such as Kabuki. This workshop is designed to introduce the basics of technique (kihon), rhythms (jiuchi), kata (form), kumidaiko (ensemble drumming), awareness of ki (energy), and the use of koe (voice) along with the history and philosophy of Taiko — all while having fun!

Instruments will be provided by instructor.
