Brubeck Institute announces new series, Take 5 Jazz at the Brew schedule
(Published: September 03, 2014)

University of the Pacific's Brubeck Institute this week announced its new Brubeck Institute Presents series and the fall schedule for its popular Take 5 Jazz at the Brew series and Take 5 Jam Sessions.

Chris Brubeck, Peter Epstein, Steve Allee and Jamie Baum will each play Brubeck Institute Presents dates this fall, with Stefon Harris and Christian McBride already slated to perform in February and March. Allee, Baum and Harris also will be featured guest artists with the Pacific Jazz Ensemble at Faye Spanos Concert Hall on the Wednesdays before their respective Brubeck Institute Presents dates.

The music begins Thursday, Sept. 4, when the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet takes the stage at Take 5 Jazz at the Brew, 157 W. Adams St., in Stockton's Miracle Mile district. Take 5 is a partnership with Valley Brewing Co. that provides a venue for University of the Pacific students, faculty and visiting artists to perform regularly before audiences.

A jam session begins on the following Monday evening and then Brubeck Institute Presents artist Peter Epstein will perform on Sept. 11. Steve Allee will perform Oct. 23, Chris Brubeck on Nov. 10, and Jamie Baum on Nov. 20.
