Pianist Shamie Royston Releases Debut CD Portraits on Hot Tone Music!
(Published: September 17, 2014)

Shamie Royston powers her way through Portraits with rich original compositions and emerges as a pianist for today and tomorrow!!

New York City, September 12th, 2014. Denver native and now New Jersey resident pianist Shamie Royston has released her debut CD Portraits! Armed with her
Master's Degree in Composition Shamie has written eight of the ten tunes for
Portraits, a collection of various themes tied as one!

She has also written compositions for trumpeter, Sean Jones and saxophonist and sister Tia Fuller among others!

As Shamie says regarding the tunes for Portraits "I composed these compositions which reflect my life and the kind of person I am. Each tune is a sketch or painting of myself".

Like a gifted painter or artist, the CD Portraits is like a collective collaboration of texture and color.Track one entitled The Beast Within, displays her use of texture by "reveling the quiet, and pleasant soul people see in me, but displaying a beast-like vibe once they get to know me" stated by Shamie.

Track four Homecoming, is a medium swing which paints a picture of her home and family in Colorado and track five,Healing Hymn is a beautiful solo piano ballad which has the serenity of beauty and peace as you listen to it. Hoarce Silver's Summer in Central Park which is track eight, becomes new again, and many of the other compositions on the CD make you aware that she loves to swing, and they all portray an exquisite painting of Shamie Royston.

Shamie is joined by two in creditable musicians for the recording. Drummer and husband Rudy Royston plays with great rhythmic sensibilities and bassist Ivan Taylor who so effortlessly shifts gears and locks it all down, and together they form a great piano trio!

Shamie Royston is a confident composer capable of keeping a listener engaged with challenging and complex but memorable tunes!
