Jazz Pianist/Composer to Perform at Center For Faith & the Arts

NC Musician will play at Mark Stephenson Exhibit Reception

September 25, 2014 (SALISBURY, NC) - Marc Hoffman, NC composer, jazz pianist, and vocalist, will perform at the reception for the opening of artist Mark Stephenson's exhibit, Italian Paintings and Other Recent Works on Friday, Oct. 3 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The exhibit, at Center For Faith & the Arts in Salisbury, opened September 2nd. Stephenson recently completed a two-week residency in Tuscany. Marc will perform original jazz vocal and piano pieces in addition to standards.

Marc Hoffman and Mark Stephenson have crossed paths quite a few times over the years, beginning with two years together at Pfeiffer University (then College). Over the last decade Marc has played in orchestras for several theatrical production in which Mark was performing. Recently, music teacher Caroline Stephenson who is married to Mark, taught for a semester at the Salisbury School of Music where Marc Hoffman is Artistic Director.

In addition to performances both solo and with his trio, Marc recently completed music for the film, "Chancing Dreams" by Sundog Pictures. Other film work includes includes scoring "40 Fears" for Charlotte, NC based Dalliance Films, "The Mill" for Forever Young Productions, and acting as Music Supervisor for several films. He was also music historian for the film "Revolution". Also an author, Marc, and brother Sandy's Essential Worship Keyboard is published by Emerald Books and picture book, Sleep, Little Child by Virillion Music Publishing.

The Center for Faith & the Art is located at 207 W. Harrison Street, in Salisbury.

About Marc Hoffman:

Marc Hoffman received a degree in composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts and studied film composition at USC. He also attended The Dartington International Summer School of Music in Devon, England. His composition teachers have included John Corigliano, Leo Arnaud, Neil Hefti, and Sherwood Shaffer. Marc performs across the US and abroad, as a soloist and with his jazz trio. A member of BMI and the American Composer's Forum, he is also founder and artistic director of the Salisbury School of Music. Marc lives in Salisbury, NC with is wife, Anne, and their daughter August.
