KCC Productions presents the Antonio Madruga Trio Dec 13

Antonio Madruga is a Florida native and is a graduate of the New World School of the Arts in Miami, currently on a full scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music, and has been elected as a freshman to the elite fellowship of the Manhattan Jazz Institute. He has performed as a member of the Monk Combo, and with both the Monk All-Star Sextet and Jazz Ensemble. He is a beneficiary of the Patrons of Exceptional Artists under the direction of Giselle Brodsky. In 2010 he was invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to perform at the White House. He has also appeared as soloist, or with his trio, at Sweet Rhythm's (NYC), the Panama Jazz Festival, Carnegie Hall, The 92nd Street Y, Princeton University, The Kennedy Center, the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival, Tanglewood, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Zinc Bar, and Jazz at Lincoln Center.

He also has been a special guest performer for Paquito D'Rivera, Marian McPartland, Danilo Perez, Ira Sullivan, and Bill Charlap. He has toured with Antonio Hart, Bobby Watson, and with Lisa Henry as part of the "Peer to Peer" Thelonious Monk Institute Program. Mrs. Obama also requested that Antonio to be a featured guest in her photo shoot in Harper's Bazaar Magazine article entitled, "America's Got Talent." He recently toured with Bobby Watson and the Thelonious Monk Combo in Santa Fe New Mexico and Thelonious Monk All-Star Septet with Christian McBride in Philadelphia. Recently, for the second consecutive year, Wynton Marsalis awarded him the prestigious Ella Fitzgerald Award for outstanding soloist at the 2012 "Essentially Ellington" competition at Lincoln Center. He has been a member of the Grammy Jazz Ensemble, and performed with Grammy-award winner Esperanza Spalding during Grammy Week 2011 and with Terri-Lynn Carrington in 2012.
