Saxophonist Bernard Scavella Releases New CD A Taste Of Scavella!!
(Published: January 05, 2015)

Swing in the new year with this dazzling new release from the Chicago based tenor and soprano virtuoso!!

Chicago, Illinois, January 2nd,2015-Chicago based reed master
Bernard Scavella delivers mightily on his new 11 tune set,
A Taste Of Scavella packed full of the best in post bop playing, with a freshness to match!!

Perhaps the freshness is a result of 9 of the 11 tunes being composed by Bernard, with Joe Henderson's Serenity one of many standout tracks, no doubt a nod to Joe whom he studied with for many years in his early formative years and Kenny Barron's Sun Shower being the exceptions. In fact as much as Bernard Scavella's masterful tenor and soprano playing is,his incredible writing is also on display here.

Having shared the stage with jazz greats like Billy Cobham,George Cables, George Coleman,Johnny Hartman and Freddie Cole add to the exquisite jazz flow that is Bernard Scavella!

For this recording Bernard has chosen a supporting cast of top notch musicians whom as Bernard says "when I decided to make a new CD, I wanted some of Chicago's best musicians to assist and support me in my endeavor. Musicians that were capable of interpreting my material with inspiration, thoughtfulness, and outstanding musicality" As you'll hear, mission accomplished!

Pianist Charlie Johnson is a sparkling and diversified musician and a first call for those coming through Chicago wanting the best. Here he adds all the right colors and textures with superb inventive soloing!

Bassist Chuck Webb has performed with Aretha Franklin, Ramsey Lewis, David Sanborn, Al DiMeola, Grover Washington Jr, Freddie Hubbard and McCoy Tyner among many others and adds all that's necessary in locking the rhythm in!

Last but not least, drummer Robert Shy has been a drummer on the Chicago-area jazz scene (and internationally) since the 1960's. Robert has played and recorded with many jazz greats including Rahsaan Roland Kirk,Richie Cole and Von Freeman among many others and adds all the rhythmic sensitivities that moves the music just where it should be.

With A Taste Of Scavella whether it's the easy groove of the opening track Hip Bop, the full throttle blowing of track 2 ForThe Bruh's, the melodic sweetness of Bernards soprano on tracks 3 Starlite, and 7 Sun Shower one things for sure if you like your cup of jazz strong and flavorful you're going to want a 2nd and 3rd cup of A Taste Of Scavella!!
