Released in October of 2006, The In Side Out (Advance Dance Disques AD 0353) is now available for digital download. On numerous best of 2006 critics polls, including the Jazz Journalist Association, All About Jazz and the Village Voice, this is Michele Rosewoman's first new recording since 2000 and the fifth with her Quintessence ensemble. Rosewoman is heard with a core quintet featuring the powerful front line of saxophonists Mark Shim and Miguel Zenon on some tracks and Shim with guest guitarist Dave Fiuczynski on others, Further augmented with appearances by guests Josh Roseman on trombone and Pedro Pablo Martinez on percussion, the self-produced CD provides an up-to-the-moment portrait of where Rosewoman's music is NOW.
As on her previous recordings for Blue Note, Soul Note, Enja, Evidence and To-shiba/EMI she expands jazz's horizons while remaining firmly rooted in the music's illustrious tradition.
