Jazz House Kids presents "Journey Through Black History" on Feb. 28 at Montclair Public Library
(Published: February 20, 2015)

Jazz House Kids, a Montclair-based nonprofit that has gained a reputation as one of the nation's preeminent arts education and performance organizations, will present a FREE family-friendly program for Black History Month on Saturday, February 28th at 2:00 pm at the Montclair Public Library, 50 S. Fullerton. Sponsored by TD Bank, "Journey through Jazz History" will include a live performance and interactive discussion examining the musical, historical, and geographical influences that form the foundation of jazz. We'll also explore the links between Jazz in America and influences across the African Diaspora. The Montclair Public Library program will also include a reading and book signing by children's book author Denise Lewis Patrick, author of A Matter of Souls and the American Girl: Meet Cécile series. Join us for this special program which will provide a one-of-a-kind cultural tour of the roots, depths, and invaluable riches of the African-American experience. No registration required; space is limited.
