(Published: April 27, 2015)

(PHOTO: Jazz vocal student Leandra McNair singing with Usdan Jazz Ensemble).Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned New York arts day camp whose jazz department was founded by Dr. Billy Taylor, will hold its final Open House for its 48th, 2015 season on Sunday May 17 from 11 AM to 2 PM. The Center features a full Jazz program for all levels, featuring on-site performances and master classes by often world-renowned artists, such as Jimmy Heath, Arturo O'Farrill, Bobby Watson and Jane Monheit (a Usdan alumna).

The 2015 season starts Monday June 29.

At Open Houses, families can tour the magnificent 200-acre woodland campus and obtain information on all programs. New for 2015: Hip hop and combined jazz/ballet dance style classes.

Families who cannot make the Open House may make individual appointments for other days.

Usdan Center is open to all students ages 5-18, and no audition is needed for most classes. Students are transported by air-conditioned buses daily in season. The Center has introduced the arts to more than 60,000 children.
