Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers Participates In 16th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival
(Published: April 29, 2015)

On May 3, 2015 the Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers will once again participate in the highly anticipated 16th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival. Its performance will take place at its namesake, the historic Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 279 Lafayette Avenue, in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, from 3pm-5pm, and feature The Jeff King Band.

The Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival is NYC's longest continuously running grassroots festival dedicated to Jazz and will feature a line-up of nearly 50 events at venues throughout NYC, between April 17th and May 17th. This will be Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers' fourth time participating in the festival.

Jeff King, an exciting tenor, is leader of The Jeff King Band and Musical Director of the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium All Star band. He has been called a master by his contemporaries in finding and selecting music that captures the essential spirit of Jazz. He is a champion of "The Brooklyn Sound" and what he calls "New Jazz Standards". The band members in Jeff's band are chosen for their uniqueness, versatility and their ability to swing. The band consists of: Jeff King (Tenor Sax Leader), Riley Mullins (Trumpet), Frank Lacy (Trombone), Yoichi Uzeki (Piano), Bryce Sebastien (Bass), Duane Broadnax (Drums), Steven Kroon (Percussion), and Vanessa Rubin (Vocalist).

The recurrent theme of the Jazz Vespers is: "Experience the Presence of God Through the Sounds of Jazz." Currently in its third year, the Jazz Vespers series has built a following of jazz lovers around New York City and Brooklyn, and continues to secure well-respected jazz musicians that bring an unmistakable feeling of celebration for God, and the jazz art form. As a former attendee proclaimed, "I enjoy and look forward to Jazz Vespers! It is an amazing, spiritual, and, musical mixture. Praise God for Jazz!"

Emmanuel Baptist Church is located at 279 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.
