Marc Hoffman Trio Returns for 11th Annual Blues & Jazz Festival

Trio will bring original jazz, standards and blues to Thi's Place On Main

September 27, 2015 (Charlotte, NC) - Jazz pianist/composer/vocalist Marc Hoffman and his trio will perform at Thi's On Main in Rock Hill, SC this Friday, October 2nd, from 7 to 10 p.m. as part of 11th Annual Blues & Jazz Festival. This will be Marc's 4th performance at the festival.

"I'm excited to be back in Rock Hill again for the Blues & Jazz Festival," Hoffman said. "It's always a great event!"

For this performance, Hoffman will be joined by drummer Wiley Sykes and bassist Sean Tarleton.

Sean Tarleton is a versatile jazz bassist who performs the span of the East Coast from New York to Miami. He is well know in the Charlotte area for his excellent playing and is a regular with the Charlotte Jazz Orchestra and many noted musicians and ensembles.

Wiley Sykes is versed in the drumming traditions of India, West Africa, American jazz and Western classical music. He is also the principal percussionist of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and on the faculty of Guilford College.

In addition to performing jazz as a soloist and with various ensembles, Marc is a composer working in a variety of genres including film, solo piano, concert and choral music. A new patriotic choral work was premiered in June this year as part of the Annual Fourth of July Celebration in Faith, NC.

Also an author, Marc's Essential Worship Keyboard is published by Emerald Books and a picture book, Sleep, Little Child by Virillion Music Publishing.

Marc's original jazz and concert works have been performed live and on radio across the US and in the UK, France, Canada and The Netherlands.

Thi's Place On Main is located at 210 E. Main Street in downtown Rock Hill.

About Marc Hoffman:

Marc Hoffman received a degree in composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts and studied film composition at USC. He also attended The Dartington International Summer School of Music in Devon, England. His composition teachers have included John Corigliano, Leo Arnaud, Neil Hefti, and Sherwood Shaffer. Marc performs across the US and abroad, as a soloist and with his jazz trio. A member of BMI and the American Composer's Forum, he is also founder and artistic director of the Salisbury School of Music. Marc lives in Salisbury, NC with is wife, Anne, and their daughter August.
