Alex Zsolt releases compelling album of piano covers (Published: October 13, 2015)
Call him the Piano Man.
For the past 17 years, Alex Zsolt has visited over 1,500 churches, spreading the Word of God throughout the country. But not just with words. Zsolt ministers with his piano, both with his own compositions and covers as well. His masterful skills with the piano create moments of spiritual and emotional uplift, and even when he is covering secular pop music, there is undeniable grace in his performances.
On his latest effort, Songs from the Heart: Love Through the Years, Zsolt summarizes several decades of pop ballads with the soothing embrace of his piano melodies. The overall effect is both stunning and invigorating; these performances bring undeniable joy to the heart. On the opening track "Always," Zsolt is simply incandescent; his playing truly sparkles.
Some versions, such as his take on the eternally beautiful "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," transcend the original, becoming a gem all its own. The mellow, dreamy gorgeousness of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" leaves the listener in awe. Then there are tracks such as "Islands in the Stream," capturing the jubiliant waves of the original but brimming with newly found soulfulness.
This is a wonderfully engaging CD.
