Pianist Keith Brown has releases The Journey CD on Space Time Records!!
(Published: January 09, 2016)

"I am sure that he is one that will make a tremendous contribution to the continuum of jazz and particularly jazz piano"-Mulgrew Miller

Knoxville, TN. January 8th, 2016-Keith Brown is a pianist, composer, bassist, educator, and we can add visionary to that list!

Born into a musical family, both his parents are musicians, his mother a pianist and also plays various woodwinds. His father who nurtured Keith in his writing and playing original material and standards is the internationally acclaimed pianist Donald Brown!

In addition to his parents Keith's two brothers and various aunts and uncles are all musical people!

A recipient of a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2009 and later completed his Masters of Music Degree Keith's personal musical genre's and experience's has a range that reach's from jazz and classical to R&B and hip-hop and they culminate in the masterpiece that is his new CD, The Journey!

An aspect that makes The Journey such an adventurous meaningful voyage is Keith's in-creditable writing and as Keith says "I always try to write and perform in a way that is intellectual but that has a strong sense of melody or groove that can touch those who are open enough to listen".

One "listen" to The Journey and its as the rose bud opens and fills the space with this wonderful aroma Keith own flavor of jazz surrounds you. On track 4 Capt'n Kirk a tune inspired by the writing of Kenny Kirkland who Keith says"has some amazing compositions" opens quite tenderly with Keith piano intro but soon shifts to a hot groove with soaring saxophone layers by Greg Tardy!

With track 5 Prelude for the One a slow and lonely tune warmed by the harmonies of saxophonist Jamel Mitchell and Kenneth Whalum III. On track 6 the title track "it's like a journey when you're moving forward but you never repeat the same part twice" says Keith. As with a lot of his writing there is a lot of movement

The bluesy Ten Years Of Turmoil that features saxophonist Kenneth Whalum lll and Jamel Mitchell.Keith's playing is about as "simple and straight to the point" as this exciting and intriguing pianist plays or writes!

Keith Brown's
The Journey whether he's playing piano, Rhodes, organ or keyboards may be one of the most wonderfully written, arranged and performed recordings you've heard in quite some time.

Along with Keith's very inventive playing and in addition to the in-creditable musicians aforementioned Tamara Brown adds vocals, Clint Mullican is the amazing bassist, guitarist Mike Seal is always in the right place with the right feel and color.

Last but certainly not least is co-producer and drummer Terreon Gully who's timing and rhythmic sense-abilities are simply extraordinary!

It is safe to say with The Journey Keith Brown is moving music in new directions!
