Monk in Motion - Veronica Swift

Monk in Motion: The Next Face of Jazz presents the 1st Runner-Up of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition (vocalist)

At 21, jazz vocalist Veronica Swift is already a seasoned pro, with two albums as a leader (and a number of others as an accompanist) under her belt, in addition to several festival appearances and headlining performances at major clubs around the country. Veronica was selected through a nationwide audition in the summer of 2011 as the first singer to be part of the Telluride Jazz All-Star Band for a performance at the legendary Colorado music festival, and is also one of 45 singers recently selected to participate in the Virginia Governors School for the Performing Arts.

Scheduled to perform with Veronica Swift: Scott Lowrie (drums), Greg Chen (piano), Daryl Johns (bass) and Aaron Johnson (alto sax).

Monk in Motion: The Next Face of Jazz is a partnership between BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center and the Thelonious Monk Institute that presents the top three winners from the renowned Annual Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. Each concert features one winner and their combo from various parts of the world, demonstrating the versatility and variety of different jazz styles.
