Mike Herriott CD Release of Isn't Life Grand
(Published: February 22, 2016)

On the evening of MARCH 8, 2016, gifted and technically thrilling bandleader, composer, arranger, trumpeter, trombonist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, MIKE HERRIOTT will launch his brand new, independent recording, ISN'T LIFE GRAND at Toronto's LULA LOUNGE - Toronto's foremost destination for exciting and 'live' salsa, jazz, world and improvised musics.

Although a handful of improvising soloists were involved on with the CD, MIKE HERRIOTT played every instrument on each track: trumpets, flugelhorns, french horns, trombones, piano, bass, and some percussion - so this remarkable project was produced, recorded, written and performed primarily by ONE PERSON, resulting in an absolutely breathtaking "Virtual Band" - unlike any other large ensemble jazz release in recent memory (with the exception of Mike's debut "Virtual Band" CD, OFF THE ROAD, which received rave reviews, and featured his esteemed guest, Arturo Sandoval).

FOR THE LAUNCH EVENT ONLY, and the only way to manifest this recording in a performable "LIVE" sense, Herriott will be joined onstage by his renowned sixteen-piece ensemble, "The OTR BAND" - a dynamic, Big Band comprised of an "A List" roster of skilled musicians, including Jason Logue, Dave Dunlop, Kevin Turcotte and Brian O'Kane on trumpets; Austin Hitchcock and Janet Anderson on French Horns; Al Kay, Rob Somerville, William Carn and Dave Reid on Trombones; Nancy Walker on piano, Ted Quinlan on guitar, Roberto Occhipinti on bass and Mark Kelso and Richard Moore on drums and percussion.

Essentially, it takes sixteen players to accomplish what MIKE HERRIOTT did on his own in the recording studio! Be sure to log on to www.mikeherriott.com and www.asloudasitgets.com for further info about this gifted artist, his virtual "one man band" and his masterful new CD, ISN'T LIFE GRAND. MIKE HERRIOTT (with "The OTR BAND" for this occasion) will take the stage at 8:30 PM, and there will be a $20 Music Charge. "The LULA LOUNGE" is located at 1585 Dundas St., West.
