Jazz Violinist Scott Tixier
(Published: June 04, 2016)

Jazz violinist Scott Tixier will perform at the Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown on Friday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. Says virtuoso violinist and composer Jean Luc Ponty, "I have heard Scott's recordings, seen his live performances, and I think that he stands above the crowd of current jazz violinists around the world." The event is hosted by REJS Entertainment.

Tixier is an inspired innovator and is quickly becoming known as the new voice of jazz violin. An award-winning recording artist, he was awarded "Rising Star Violin" in a recent Annual Downbeat Critics Poll.

He grew up in a suburb of Paris where his mother was a jazz dancer, his father an actor and producer. He began studying classical music at age three, and at age 13, he took up the jazz violin and never looked back.

Tixier has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of artists, including
Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Anthony Braxton, Josh Groban, Joss Stone, Gladys Knight, Ariana Grande, and Natalie Cole. His venues include Carnegie Hall, at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Blue Note Jazz Club, the Apollo Theater, and the David Letterman Show.

He now lives in Brooklyn and travels the world as a performer. Guitarist Pat Metheny says Tixier "has found a place for himself within the elite community of New York jazz musicians." Two-time Grammy winner Marcus Miller reports that Tixier is "making an international name for himself."

The June 10th concert takes place at Tavern on the Lake, 101 North Main Street in Hightstown, NJ, in the large private nightclub-like upstairs room. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 first set. Drinks and dinner can be purchased. Cost of the concert is $20.
