Vocalist and composer Kyoko Kitamura at Ibeam Brooklyn on Thu Dec.1
(Published: November 27, 2016)

Brooklyn, NY: On Thursday December 1, vocalist and composer Kyoko Kitamura will perform at Ibeam in Brooklyn, NY with her trio Tidepool Fauna featuring Ingrid Laubrock on tenor sax and Ken Filiano on bass. Kitamura will be presenting new modular pieces for vocal improvisation, where components of the compositions can be re-ordered at any given moment by ensemble members. This project is supported by the Friendship Fund, JazzRightNow.com, and the Cultural Development Fund of NYC's Department of Cultural Affairs. Also performing on the same evening are composer and trombonist Brian Drye and guitarist Andy Green.

Kitamura is most recently known for her work with saxophonist and composer Anthony Braxton as a member of one his trios, and a performer in his operas and the Syntactical Ghost Trance Music Choir. A live recording of the Anthony Braxton Trio performance at Big Ears Festival 2016, featuring Braxton, Taylor Ho Bynum and Kitamura, will be released later in December from New Braxton House Record's Bootleg Label exclusively for Tri-Centric website members.
