Pianist Pete Frassrand's new album produces good vibes and infectious energy
(Published: December 28, 2016)

Pete Frassrand is a veteran music educator who is very much passionate in sharing and introducing jazz music to younger audiences. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised by a family of teachers and musicians who influenced him to be great artist. He played in different venues as a pianist for the Greater U Street Jazz Collective.

Frassrand's superb new album Sonic Story consists of several original tracks that feature local musicians and members of the Collective. "Happening Birthday" can be compared to a personalized birthday
greeting. The emotions present in the song are generally happy, playful, and wishful. The band's infectious performance produces good vibes and a celebratory energy. Vocalist Sendy Brown showcases her considerable skills through scat-singing, which made the song more fun to listen to.

"Groove for Grover" is groovy and seductive. It features virtuoso playing that produces a clean melody which is very much relaxing. Listeners will definitely fall in love with this song. Frassrand's piano playing, accompanied by the tenor and alto saxophones, give life to the track. The guitar gives off a blues vibe and the bass guitar and drums deliver thickness, depth and direction to the music. "Groove for Grover" is definitely one of the best cuts in the album.

On "Lullaby for a Crying Child," singer Brown and Andre Enceneat give life to its inspiring lyrics. The melody of the song gentle and sweet. This one can be compared to a parents' prayer and literally, a lullaby for their crying child. It sends a message of care, hope, security, guidance, and love. It is a great track to mark the end of the album.

Overall, Sonic Story is a must-get effort. Frassrand creates beautiful music collaborating with the right artists. The album offers different flavors of music that could definitely satisfy a listener's taste for jazz entertainment. It has a lot of emotions that can also inspire up and coming musicians in the industry.
