The Kitchen presents Stallone The Reducer and Lucy Lewis, February 16
(Published: February 13, 2017)

Stallone The Reducer is Samuel Consiglio from Detroit, Michigan. Having previously operated in outfits such as Tamion 12 Inch and ADULT., his work is created on synthesizers, rhythm generators, samplers, tapes, and voices, with an emphasis on analog production techniques. Largely presenting in night clubs and bars and on vinyl, cassette and CD, Consiglio has also exhibited his sound work in galleries like Shoot the Lobster NYC, Scaramouche NYC, helper Brooklyn, Peres Projects Berlin, and MoCAD Detroit. His most recent full length Private Property was published in 2016 by EST. 83, a division of the FIT Sound label. Video: "Systems Grid."

Lucy Lewis is an artist and musician based in New York. Her practice is, largely, an experimentation with analog hardware devices, often taming and routing feedback paths, which are used as a generative modulation source. Lucy is a founding member of the Opensignal collective, a group of artists addressing the state of gender and race in experimental electronic-based sound and art practices through technical skill-shares, critical discussion, and performance. Her performances have been included in programming for MATA Festival, MoMA PS1, Non-Event, and Goethe Institut, among others. Audio from a recent live set.

Synth Nights: Stallone the Reducer and Lucy Lewis is made possible with endowment support from Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, annual grants from The Amphion Foundation, Inc., The Aaron Copland Fund for Music, Howard Gilman Foundation, and The Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation; and in part by public funds from New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
