(Published: February 21, 2017)

92Y announces Cuban-born bandleader/composer/reeds player extraordinaire Paquito D'Rivera in concert on April 8 at 8pm with the Paquito D'Rivera Quintet, featuring Alex Brown, piano; Eric Doob, drums; Zach Brown, acoustic bass; and Diego Urcola, trumpet & trombone. Tickets are sale now starting at $35. 92Y is located at 1395 Lexington Ave. in New York. For tickets and information please visit 92Y.org or call 212.415.5500.

Winner of 14 Grammy Awards, Paquito began his musical career as a classical music prodigy on the clarinet; his musical interests now range from classical to jazz and bebop to Latin. He was a founding member of Dizzy Gillespie's award-winning United Nations Orchestra, and he tours the world with his own ensembles, including the Chamber Jazz Ensemble, the Paquito D'Rivera Big Band and the Paquito D'Rivera Quintet. In 2005 he was named an NEA Jazz Master and awarded the National Medal of the Arts. Paquito won the NYC Fans Decision Jazz Award 2016 for Clarinet, sponsored by Hot House and The Metropolitan Room, and earlier this year took home Chamber Music America's 2017 Richard J. Bogomolny National Service Award.
