Glenn Makos CD Release Party "The Michel Legrand Project" on May 24 at Zinc Bar - NYC
(Published: May 12, 2017)

"The Michel Legrand Project"

"GLENN MAKOS QUARTET/Michel Legrand Project: Outside of some well stocked, under packaged recent box sets, Legrand hasn't been getting the love he should and Makos and his pals stand to correct that. Taking some prime bits of the Legrand canon to some new places, Makos uses his big band chops to take this combo to a big sound and feel. A welcome pairing, Makos ought to get some of the nu retro divas putting their thinking caps on and giving Cole Porter a rest for a while. Well done." - Midwest Record

Just finished previewing The Michel Legrand Project and it's wonderful. It's rare that I suggest every song (rare that I suggest half of them!) when putting a disk into rotation and I had to write with praise. The sound of the horns melds wonderfully; the sound of the skins is perfection and the bass phrasing is just stunning. Together they're so wonderful. Love it!

I get to NY in Dec; do you play out Mr. Makos? I'd love to catch you and your band live...

Gary Lowe, Jazz Music Director and Producer, "Exploring Jazz," WUNH-FM 91.3 MHz Airs on Thurs 1500-1800 EDT [GMT-4]; stream from archives at WUNH.org"
