Beat Funktion continues streak of high-quality jazz-funk
(Published: August 11, 2017)

Established R&B ensemble Beat Funktion has released their sixth album, Green Man. The band has become a household name with their scintillating instrumental jazz fused with funk and soul. The new LP aims to widen the group's audiences and, of course, continue its streak of receiving international acclaim through high-quality music.

On "Rewind," bluesy vocalist Claes Janson provides a unique masculine voice that will entertain and serenade its listeners. This is a song about moments that are hard to forget. It represents memories that you would want to repeat and relive over and over again. You would not think twice in putting this song in repeat.

"We Are Young" spices things up even further. This is one hot track that spotlights a hotter talented vocalist in Matilda Gratte. The neo-soul darling will have you mesmerized by her seductive voice. This complements the melody of the song well, effectively conveying the track's story, which is about leaving and doing everything that you want due to the joys of youth.

The title cut features the talented Deodato Siquir and the Gospel choir AFRO. Intensity and energy is overflowing through the whole track and the exchanges made by the vocals and instruments are definitely on another level. It is certainly the flagship song of the album. I would definitely spend money to see Beat Funktion perform this tune live.

Anyone will find it easy to appreciate what the band has done. They were able to make the right decision in getting guest artists that gave meaning to their musical creations. Beat Funktion did a very bold move that makes the album rich in diversity and creativity. Green Man is filled with fun and virtuoso instrumentals. Every track is fresh and it will certainly not grow old anytime soon.
